Not A Place But A State Of Mind

One of my favorite things about the quaint town of Mt. Gretna are the houses and cottages on the hill overlooking the lake.  They all have beautiful front porches.   After we left the lake on Sunday, we drove around admiring all the charming homes.  The front porches definately get used in this town!   Almost all the porches have ceiling fans and nice furniture, lights, plants and people visiting with one another.  I'm sure for some of the residents, this is their summer home.  I was only able to get a handful of pictures because it was a gorgeous evening...and most people were hanging out on their PORCH!    As we drove up and down the streets,  people smiled and waved to us like we lived their too!

I think what I like most about the porches is what they represent.
To me, they symbolize a more relaxed and slower time.
A time when people visited and enjoyed each other's company.

Most of the houses in our neighborhood don't even have front porches.
Do you have a front porch?

Oh my goodness it is front porch heaven! I LOVE I mean L-O-V-E big wrap around porches. That is on my list for my dream home. We have a patio meets balcony at our apt, I guess you could call it a porch. I love front porches too. I feel exactly the same way about what they represent!!! This post made me happy!! I'm glad everyone was so nice and friendly to you!!

All of those homes are so beautiful! Great photos. Currently, I don't have a porch - the joys of Apartment living! I hope to have one soon. I fully intend to deck it out in school spirit, depending on what college/university my husband lands a professor position at. My porch will tell our story :)

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone looking at those photos. TOO PERFECT. Beautiful just beautiful. I would love an enormous wrap around porch with a partial screened in area in the back.
Where is Mt. Gretna?

What beatuiful porches! Growing up we had a very long porch and I remember roller skating up and down it. I love big porches!

Those are gorgeous homes! I long for a wrap around porch. Our front porch is tiny. Just big enough for a welcome mat and a wicker chair. I soooo agree with you, porches do symbolize relaxation and a slower pace. I love that you posted these pictures. So peaceful!

I knew I was gonna love this when you teased about it yesterday!
No front porch here....we sit in our side driveway as if it were the porch....relaxing, watching neighbors and kids, etc...
I do long for that slower pace!

We do have a front porch with a couple of rocking chairs that we use quite a bit in the cooler days.
I love all the charm and "uniqueness" of the porches you showed. I tried to pick a fav, but they are all so great.
Thanks for the trip down the street with you!
Enjoy the day
