Our Weekend

I have a sick boy home from school today.  He's not throwing up sick, but has a head cold, sore throat, sore ear, and no appetite.  Poor guy doesn't even look like himself!  He started not feeling well late in the afternoon yesterday, right before his tennis match.  He wanted to cancel his match...but it was really sort of too late and he knows all too well what it feels like when someone cancels at the last minute.  I felt bad because he was sick to his stomach and didn't feel like running.  And, just when I think I can't be any prouder of him than I already am...he goes and shows us what kind of strength and determination and heart he is made of.  He played a boy that is 4 years older than him and one of  the top players we've seen in our area.  Brady played this kid once last  year and didn't win one game against him.  When we arrived at the tennis club and I heard Brady would be playing him...I thought...oh no, not tonight!  But, Brady went out and played so hard, and it was one of the best matches I've ever seen him play.  Most of the games were really close...but he lost 11 games to 4.   He told us later that even though he didn't feel well, he wanted to give the other boy a good match.  Oh how I love him!

Brady went to see the new Pirates of the Carribean movie with Grandma and Grandpa Friday night...and Eric and I went  to one of our old hangouts (before Brady) for dinner and then walked around Target.  Everytime we get the chance to have a date...I wish for more!

On Sunday morning I got a text from my sister in law that Eric's brother went into the hospital during the night with chest pains.  So far the tests haven't showed any signs of a heart attack.    This afternoon he will be getting a heart cath.  We're praying that everything will turn out fine and hopefully it was just stress related.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Poor Brady, but he sure does have a heart of gold. He is such a sweet, gracious, and loving child. I hope he feels better soon. I will be praying for your brother in law as well. That is a scary situation. I hope everything turns out well. Glad you and Eric had a fun date night. :)

Glad you were able to sneak a date night before Brady got sick...poor thing. So admirable that he still played and a sign of his commitment to the sport! Hope everything ends up ok for your brother-in-law, too.

Some of my favotire momoents were when my children were home sick. It was a day I could devote to just them and pamper I did! Brady is lucky to have such a caring mom!! Hope he feels better soon!
As for the date nights, it sounds like you have two guys in your house that love and appreciate you...and vice versa!!

Now for that Brady..what a trooper. How cool that he could look past himself...his sick self...and give the boy a fair shake.
I think he will make a great son-in law....for me. :)

Wow, I hope Brady and your brother in law get well soon. This has been a sicky winter for so many people. So glad you had a date night. Those are the best, though few and far between.

I have this to say about that: First I hope Brady feels better soon. Next, what heart your son has! What a sense of commitment you have instilled in him already at such a young age! Pat yourselves on the back, and then hug that sweet boy!!!!

That is one amazing young man. That he would be so selfless to want to give his opponent a good match and not think about himself feeling poor. Hope your BIL is doing OK. That's so scary.
