Well, it looks like it anyways!
This is actually the fridge that's out in our garage.
And, the inside fridge has milk, orange juice, unsweetened ice tea and a gallon of lemonade and half a 2 liter of diet coke.
Our fridge isn't usually this stocked in the winter. We tend to drink more in the summer. Recently my mother-in-law won a gift card for $100 to a nearby grocery store and split it amongst the three families. I decided to use the gift card towards drinks.
Believe it or not, Eric and Brady are big water drinkers. Me, I'm working on it.
It's been almost 14 months since I gave up soda. I did buy a diet mt. dew at the airport this summer and took one sip and threw it away. It tasted terrible. That's all I've had. However, in place of my diet mountain dew, I've been drinking diet ice tea. I guess I traded one evil for the other!
On December 15, out of the blue, Brady announced that he was giving up soda for a year. He says he's hoping that after the year is up, he won't like the taste of it anymore either (like me). We have always allowed him only one soda a day. Usually he chooses rootbeer without the caffeine. There have been a couple of situations since he gave up soda that have come up where soda was the only option. He wouldn't budge. He's so determined like that. I have no doubt he will make it all year without.
What's in your fridge?!

I was happy to see this post, because I was wondering how you'd done giving up DMD. I'm really impressed. One day DP and I will part company, but it's not today.
Or any day in the near future, I'm afraid.
Your little guy really is an amazing boy!!! Good for you, good for him. I need to do it too. At the very least, cut way back on the diet soda!!!!
I congratulate you on no more mt. dew, pop is so addictive. Brady is seriously the coolest kid, how did he think to give up soda on his own? I love him and he isn't even mine! I want a fridge in the garage so bad. We do not have room for all our stuff in our fridge. We just have the one in the kitchen with normal stuff but it is always packed (I grocery shop a lot!). I wish mine looked this pretty. I always clean ours up on grocery day but once my Big Tall Hubby and kids get in it, forget it, such a mess. We always have yogurt, cheese, and milk in ours, if I run out, I head to the store. I also want a separate freezer but we have been putting it off since we wanted to move, one less thing to pack up, but since we haven't moved yet, I am strongly considering it.
Oh Kerri...this is a post just for me I thik.
I love the post in and of itsself, however, I have to give you a big thumbs up for kicking the pop habit. I'm doomed...I haven't been able to do it.
My pop of choice Diet Coke. I have cut back to 1 a day, given that I was drinking at least 4 a day, that's pretty good. Some days I don't have one, but I know it when I haven't because the deadgum Diet Coke reminder kicks in and before I know it, I'm taking an Excedrin. I know it can't be good for the body, but I feel like it's as hard as going to AA or NA (no, I don't know firsthand what those programs are like)for an alcohol or drug addict.
On a lighter note, here's a joke for you:
Waitress: Can I bring you something to drink?
Customer: Yes, can I have a Diet Coke please?
Waiterss: Is Pepsi okay?
Customer: Is Monopoly money okay?
I just read that on another blog and found it cute.
Oh boy I cannot show this to my boys - or my husband - Hee Hee.
It seems like in the summer our garage fridge is packed like this with Gatorade, Sunny D and water. That isn't so bad I guess :-D
We aren't big pop drinkers at all. Only if a pizza is involved! I go for the diet pepsi every so often. Diet drinks are so bad for you..as my husband has been telling me for years! Today I thought I would just go ahead and have a diet pepsi with lunch. The machine is outside our surgery suite. I put in my money and nothing happened...no pop drop! I guess that was God telling me to back away from the machine! So I had water and lived to tell about it! Congrats to Brady for following his Mom's good example!
Brady is just such a great kid. Good for him for giving up soda for a year!! I bet he will do great. Good for you too. I don't drink much of it but whenever I do I always feel guilty. I am a big water drinker though.
We also have an outdoor fridge and it is stocked with capri suns, waters, soda and beer.
have a great day kerri!
I have never been a soda drinker. I would much rather have coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. I do drink a lot of water, iced tea and I love La Croix sparkling water: sort of like a soda but not sweet.
We love our garage fridge as well. We keep bottled water, gatorade, diet sodas, capri suns, wine and beer in ours. I wish I could give up diet sodas. I like my coffee in the morning, and coke zero the rest of the day. I love water too though.
omg, kerri, this is my dream setup to have a drink fridge!! we never have enough room for all of our drinks, i'm soooooo envious of this!! but even better than the drink fridge is the news that you're totally weaned off of your DMD - that's fantastic!!
and btw, Susan R's diet coke joke above is absolutely hilarious - totally passing that one on ;-)
He is such a NEAT kid! I love his determination!!!

Oh wow! My fingers must have a tocuh of hyperactivity today! Oops!
Your fridge looks so neat! I gave up soda a few years ago for Lent and never went back..... I do like a real Coke when I'm at the movies.... it just tastes so great with the popcorn. Hubs still drinks a ton of diet soda.... I keep calling it his liquid chemicals hoping he will kick the habit....... one can dream, right?
My boys would LOVE to invade your fridge!
Last year I gave up coffee for lent and got hooked on coke again. Now I drink BOTH! But I am trying to quit...

Kerri,
I have a great poster my friend send to me about the harmful effects of drinking soda on your body. Can't remember if I blogged about it or not yet, but it is very eye opening. If you'd like I can email you the copy. I bet you won't touch soda again :-) I'm not! ;-) LOL Have a great week!
Blessings,
Jill
I was just thinking about your Mt Dew fix the other day... Way to go you!!
I still drink a coke (or pepsi) almost every day...
I don't want to read Jill's email though... I'm not ready to give it up!!!
OH man! I don't know what I'm more impressed with. The impeccable organization of your fridge or your soda free commitment. I did it for a while. It felt great. But I'm as bad as ever now. :( I need to stop.
PLeeeeease send Brady over to our house! My kids could learn something from him. He is just such a sweet kid.
I don't drink a lot of pop, but when I do, it must be Diet Coke. Also...my boys would go craaazzy in your fridge.
Have a great Thursday!
Hey.. I am attempting to enter the blog world again... I miss y'all too much to keep hiding under my "busy" life... ha ha ha... =)
LOVE the drinks! too funny!
other than evil evil coffee that I love love love... I drink hot licorice tea (stash)... and I wasn't a water drinker either ...until I found Metromint Peppermint water... (no sugar!)... just water and mint... OH MAN yummy! only it is strong so the bonus is... I can make 3 bottles out of one! I save my empties and then evenly distribute one into three bottles and top up with water from the fridge (filtered) =) I buy Peppermint water at Top foods, Fred Meyer and or Safeway... when it is on sale!! its expensive... I buy it when it is a dollar a bottle... but I am really getting 3 bottles for a dollar! ha ha
I'm sooo proud of you for giving up Diet Mt Dew! (well, all pop I guess.) And so proud of Brady! I doubt he will go back after 1 year. (the question becomes--why? Why go back? It isn't good for you....and you did without it this long, why bother. Plus I wonder if it would even taste very good to him anymore. Maybe being a young'un it would, but pretty sure it wouldn't appeal to me at all.)
I have been soda pop free for over 2 years now; had my last one in Oct 2009. Caffeine free diet Coke was my drink o' choice. It really hasn't been so bad! Gets easier all the time. I'm so proud of ME too. :)
It is really strange how soda pop is THE drink in our culture, eh? But I am now a biiiig water drinker, so I don't get stuck out & about with nothing to drink, really. I can always have water.
SO proud of you! And YaYa's story made me smile. As did the joke about monopoly money.
