Down Under

Good day.  That's what they say in Australia. :)

I've kind of been m.i.a. lately over here on my blog.  We've been busy.  Brady has basketball now twice a week and of course tennis is three days a week.  Our evenings are always busy running around.

I 'm dragging.    We've been staying up way too late.  The Australian Open is going on right now and the matches don't even start until  9pm...and the last one starts at 5am.   We let Brady stay up half the night all weekend.  Good thing he had Monday off from school!  We dvr'd last night's matches and he watched parts of both of them this morning.  I'm ready for it to be done.  The final will be played on Sunday at 5am.  We are planning to get up early, have  breakfast and watch the big match.  Brady doesn't know we're planning this....so he will be suprised when his alarm goes off bright and early!  These are the moments I hope he remembers someday when he's older.

I walked into the livingroom Friday night and Brady was taking pictures of the t.v.  He said he was pretending he was there...in Australia.  He took all kinds of pictures.

We woke up Saturday morning to our first snowfall.  (Unless we count that one day of snow we had in October!)  Brady woke up and said, " UGH...snow!"  My thoughts exactly.  He never asked once to go outside and play in it.  When Eric went out to shovel later in the afternoon Brady went out to help and then got his sled out for about 5 minutes.  I think he slid down the hill 3 times.
That was his extent of playing in the snow!

Brady asked if he could make us lunch on Saturday.  I was planning to try Genn's spaghetti recipe.... so I got everything out and told him what to do.  The only thing I did for him was cut the onions that he sauteed.  He did such a good job.  He's really taken an interest lately in helping out in the kitchen....and I LOVE it.  The spaghetti was fantastic...a huge hit with all of us.  When Brady was mixing the tomato soup with the cream of mushroom soup...I wasn't quite sure how it would taste.  But, I might actually prefer this spaghetti to the regular old spaghetti.   If you want to see a picture...you'll have to check out Genn's because mine didn't turn out so well.  I did get a picture of the salad Brady made for me.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and gave it a try.
Cool whip hearts for hot chocolate.

So quick and easy.  Spread cool whip onto a cookie sheet.

Put tray back into the freezer until frozen.
Then, cut into hearts!

I layered the hearts between wax paper and put them
in a container and back in the freezer to get out when we
have hot chocolate.  I love quick and easy.

Is anyone still there?  I kind of rambled and my thoughts are all over the place.  Sorry. Told you I was tired.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

That boy loves his tennis. I think it is cute he was taking pictures. It would be neat if you could find a way to order some of the pictures from the actual match, maybe Sports Illustrated have some.

I feel the same way about snow. Ugh. We had some ice and it was terrible. Right in time for guests to come to our house for a party. Ugh is right.

Those hearts are so cute. I never thought to cut them out. Such a good idea. They would be cute to put on top of pies too, like apple cut outs for an apple pie.

Get some rest. Take care.

Rambling posts are my favorite, you know. :) I loved that Brady took pictures of the tv. That is great. I have Genn's spaghetti recipe too and am going to make it. It sounds delicious. Those hearts are adorable that you made out of cool whip. What a cute idea. Have a good evening.

Your thoughts are just the mirror of what's happening in your life and I think that's what blogging is all about. Brady is learning early that the way to a woman's heart is also through her stomach! I love the heart cut-out idea for the hot chocolate. Very cute. Enjoy the tennis and the week!

Hi Keri!
Glad to see ya, I noticed you hadn't blogged in a while.
I'm tired too. I hear ya, life seems so busy right now.
I'm so glad you guys liked the spaghetti! And isn't it easy?!
How fun to have Brady so interested in helping you in the kitchen. That is fun. He sure is a neat kid.

You are an awesome mom... I KNOW he will remember all the things you do to make his days special!

I think it is incredible how devoted to tennis he is... he is destined for greatness one day, in whatever he does!

That salad looks delicious... we make Genn's Nana's chicken as a staple around here now, maybe I should try her spaghetti!

Ha you are tennis like we are football. My boys, Hubs included, DVR the games...you know...just in case they want to rewatch it later. Geesh. Although my team, that Patriots, made it. Whoot!
Those hearts are so cute and perfect for the month.

Brady's love for tennis makes me smile! I don't think I've ever hear of a kid being that into it- and I'm sure he'll always remember events like that! You're such a good mom!

Those cool whip hearts are genious! I may have to use one with our teacher gift. I'm still trying to figure that out. I've got a lot pinned for inspiration! Hopefully I'll get around to it ;)

Shoot! I would welcome that snow. The grass is always greener. Right? I'm sure I would be over it after 3 rides down the hill too. But I love how pretty everything looks covered in that fresh white snow.

That is the cutest idea! I love those! I don't think we will get to see any snow this year, but I would love to have those in the freezer just in case!

I have been MIA, too! Things need to slow down!!!
