Brady's Bedroom

Today we had another snow day.
Brady and I decided to tackle his bedroom.
It was long overdue for a good cleaning.
Lots of dust behind his bed and on his bookshelves.
Even the baseboards were dusty.
The top of his desk could not be seen.

We marked three boxes.
Keep.  Garage sale.  Donate.  And one big garbage bag.
Brady asked if he could donate some of his nicer things to a children's hosptial.
I'm not sure where he got this idea...and I don't even know if it's possible.
He just likes to make things more difficult for me!

His room smells so good now...almost like I imagine a little girls room would smell!
We got rid of almost all the toys in his toy box.
It makes me sad that he is outgrowing toys.
He would much prefer to play games, read, or work at his desk
I guess he is growing up.
What's the use of keeping things he doesn't play with anymore?
It's hard for me to get rid of somethings...so I have to do it quickly.

I want to put baskets in the desk to hide the mess...but Brady says he doesn't want them.
Daddy made the big bookshelf/toybox and Brady's desk.
He also made Brady's bed...I will save that for another post.
It's soon time for the bed to go....I may not be able to let that one go.

Brady's been outside playing with a friend for a couple of hours now.
He doesn't always have someone to play with...so it does my heart good to look
out the window and see him having fun.
Isn't that what snow days should be all about?!
That, and maybe a little cleaning!

Sounds like a perfect snow day to me!
A little cleaning and a little fun.
All of the girls rooms need some serious attention! Riley is so much better about letting things go then Janey. Janey saves EVERYTHING!!! Not kidding, she has a box of old candy wrappers and stickers her teacher gives her the day before library day that say "Don't forget your library books tomorrow"!! Seriously! Dave and I joke that we might see her on Hoarders someday!! (no not really that show is way sad!!! )
Enjoy the day Kerri

I think cleaning is on everyone's minds lately. I'm about to post about it too! I LOVE Brady's room. It looks so nice and like a fun room for him to have! Love the furniture your hubby made. It's beautiful.

I know what you mean about being sad when they outgrow toys. I saw some infant toys the other day somewhere, and realized we have none of those left, and I missed them, but just for a second! :)

I'm glad Brady is out having fun in the snow with his friend.

ps. I see that little McDonald's toy! :) Boyd loves the one at my mom's. She keeps offering to send it home with us, but we have too many already. Plus it gives him something to look forward to at her house.

Wow, am I ever impressed that all that beautiful furniture came from your hubby's own hands!! That's seriously impressive, it's so beautiful!!

And don't even get me started on the outgrowing of toys ... for at least a month, I've been mulling over a post about how sad I am about the very same thing ... 2010 was a particularly big evolution for my girls - it's heartbreaking for us poor moms, isn't it?! :-(

Hey Kerri, wow, y'all sure got a ton of snow!!! Brady's room looks great! It always tugs at the heartstrings when they outgrow things doesn't it?

Thank you so much for my sweet Stylish Blogger Award. I was so touched that you thought of me.

Have a great week!

Thank you so much for your comment today. You're so sweet to think of me. I'm doing ok. Being back home w/the ballerinas makes it easier to move forward. They need too much to let me sit and wallow.

As for the bed, don't let it go. It's a family heirloom. I pictured Toy Story 3 when you said you were getting rid of most of the toys. *sniff sniff*

It looks fabulous! Wow, Brady is such a great kid, wanting to donate things. Maybe he can come and teach my kids a thing or two. I love the smell (and look) of a freshly gutted room. Too bad it doesn't last long.

I have visions of plastic boxes with treasured toys in my attic - not sure my B will ever let me throw them out. Toy Story has ruined it for all of us! ;)

His room looks great, I have been sorting through the girl's clothes for donating this week. Seems neverending some days trying to get everything sorted and organized. Getting them to give up some things is hard though, lol. Especially our 5 year old!
Hope you have a great weekend! Enjoy the snow!
Blessings,
Jill
