Team tennis ended this past weekend. I love watching Brady play...but after almost two months, I'm glad to have our weekends back! This was Brady's first time playing on a team. The kids on his team were all 6th, 7th and 8 graders. Thankfully Brady is tall...so he didnt look too out of place!
Two things I know for sure:
1. I'm so proud of my son. He works so hard...even when it's 100 degrees out there!
2. I'm going to have to diligently plan things for Brady and I to do together this summer...because this girl doesn't want to
end up at the tennis courts everyday! Brady will have to wait until the evening when his dad gets home to take him!

Brady got to play singles, doubles and mixed singles.
He definitely prefers singles...but will play anything just to be out on that court!
There were only a couple of kids on the team who already knew each other. It amazes me how Brady can step into this type of situation where the kids are all older and be so confident. I actually think Brady got more out team tennis than anyone on his team. He was encouraging and talked with everyone. And, if anyone needed a practice partner...he was right there and ready!
In playing singles, Brady was able to beat everyone on his team except one of the girls. It seems crazy when I think about it...but Brady will still be eligible to play on this middle school team 6 yrs. from now.
I know I've always said it doesn't matter if he wins or not...but for Brady's sake, I have to admit, that I sure get excited for him when he wins. That boy is at the tennis court every single day for hours. And if by some chance he can't be at the courts, he is hitting balls against the garage, playing tennis on the Wii, researching tennis videos, watching the tennis channel and he recently started writing tennis drills down that he would like to work on.
Brady has two tennis camps that he'll be attending that start next Tuesday and last for a month. I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I complain about tennis a great deal in our house. I don't complain about it to Brady...but I do to my husband. Tennis, tennis, tennis. I am a girl that needs variety!! I really don't mean to complain so much. I just don't want to talk about, watch, or play tennis every single day. I'm normal, right?
Two things I know for sure:
1. I'm so proud of my son. He works so hard...even when it's 100 degrees out there!
2. I'm going to have to diligently plan things for Brady and I to do together this summer...because this girl doesn't want to

Tennis is such a wonderful lifetime sport. Wish I could play but I fear that would be hopeless. Maybe Brady could teach you??
OK I needed for you to post this this morning!!
YOU ARE NORMAL and I AM NORMAL Too!
I have been having the same feelings and have been talking to my husband except at our house it is baseball.
The boys baseball seasons both ended the middle of May. I like baseball, I like that my boys like to play baseball, I like watching them play, I am glad that they are talented.
But....My husband signed them both up for summer leagues - ARGH....That means baseball, baseball, baseball, everyday for the next two months. I was not the happiest mom but doing better now. Ha Ha
Brady is such a good Tennis player and I know as a Mom you are so proud of them but sometimes Mom's need more than sports every single day!!
Love the pictures - And WAY cool that Brady is talented enough to play with the older kids!
he has such a gift with this sport, kerri ... there have only been 2 other children i've noticed in my 12 years as a mom with this kind of gift (one was a dancer, the other a skater) - and i can't wait to see how it all pans out for brady - it's really incredible to me!!
Love these tennis pictures! YAY for summer and alternate activities. At our house it is the skaepark, and while I love my son and love watching him do something he loves, I sometimes want to pull my hair out as well, so I totally understand!
Hoope he has an awesome time at his tennis camps!
HE has the desire and talent of a champion! My oldest was watching a big match this weekend on TV (French Opener maybe?) I thought of Brady!
Maybe we'll be watching Brady at the U.S. Open someday! Do you play?
I see Olympic games in your future! :-) Enjoy the moments, they fly by literally too quickly!!
Have a great night!
Blessings,
Jill
Sorry it came up as anonymous...it's the only way I can comment still. Having issues with blogger.

I enjoy tennis and used to play almost daily. I can see a champ in the making..in fact he's really showing such maturity playing with those older kiddos and holding his own. Good luck to him and I'm sure I'll see his name in the pros or the Olympics some day!
Love his drive!
At least you don't have to save for college....'cause I hear Scholarship in the future!!!!
We've been at the pool this week in the 95 degree weather and yes...like Brady, there are some crazies playing tennis in that heat! Whew!!!
Kerri...he really is amazing to have such drive and motivation at this age. I hope you realize this. I think we are peeking in on the next Andre Agassi (only semi-recent player I could think of...it was either him or Arthur Ashe!) ;)
I think we all get a little tired and need a break from their activities - especially the outdoor ones. That's why mine dances - inside - in a nice cool studio. Love that photo from 2 years ago. Sounds like he's found his niche - go Brady!
You are totally normal in your thoughts about tennis. You love his drive and determination, but it does get old doing the same thing over and over. You are such a wonderful and supportive mom!! I think Brady is such a great kid, and I love hearing about his tennis playing, especially his great attitude, when he wins or loses! I love all of these photos. :)
I know how you feel with all the tennis talk, but here's the thing. You'll be loving all the tennis talk when Brady gets into his teens and you start hearing about kids his age that are into bad stff and all he wants to do is play tennis.
Embrace the tennis my friend...that's just about all I can say about that.
He is so stinkin' cute Kerri!
