A Few Finds

Today, Eric and I met at Subway for lunch, and then headed across the street to check out
a re-uzit shop.  We're almost done with Brady's room...but we still need a few things.  It's not coming
along as smoothly as I hoped.  This decorating thing is sure hard for me.  I would so much prefer
Nate Berkus to come over and do it for me.  He makes it look so easy...and the room would be
awesome!  Anyway, back to the real world.  Here's what we found at the re-uzit shop....

tennis raquet- $2.00
metal basket- $5.00
wall mirror- $19.00

I was pretty excited about the mirror.  I've been looking and
pricing them for a couple of weeks now and the cheapest I could
find for a mirror this size without a frame was $40.00.  It only
took Eric about ten minutes this evening to remove the wooden
frame for me.  I'm hoping to finish a little project with that mirror
tomorrow.  We still need to find some sort of nightstand.  I have a
couple of used furniture stores in mind to check out...hopefully
Brady can be sleeping in his room sometime in the next few days!

Happy Christmas Season everyone!

And remember, presence is more important than presents.

I can't wait to see the room. And who needs Berkus anyway?
Thanks for the presence reminder. I'm really trying to do that this year.

Good shoppah!!! Can't wait to see the reveal of Brady's room!
In answer to your question, if I find a pillow shape that I like and want to use, I will usually put it in the washer on gentle, then air dry it. If it can't be washed, I use the Dryell system like dry cleaning for your dryer. These are always covered in clean fabric, and I will only buy what look like very new pillows. These that Erika found were the perfect shape, and looked brand spankin new. I used a clean cloth to wash them by hand, and nothing even came off. Then placed them in the dryer with Bounce sheets to give them a nice fresh scent. The pillows cost her 3.00 dollars, compared to the big price tag that a pillow form that size would cost. AND, I make my pillows in slip cover syle. I make a sort of envelope, and place the pillow inside. This way, the cover can be removed and laundered. Especially good for when you have kiddos. BUT, then I felt it would look great to tuft the center with a giant button. So the button will have to be cut off to wash the cover. Oh well, I can sew it back on.
Hugs,
Kris

hehe...I have to be careful watching anything on HGTV b/c they always make it look so effortless, quick and easy. And that just is not the case when you don't have a professional doing it for you or footing the bill!

I LOVE all of your new/old goodies! I even like the frame on the mirror. I'm so intrigued as to what you're going to do to it. I thought you were going to say paint it, but you took it off. hmm....Can't wait to see what it is.

Great treausres Kerri! I love that basket. Can not wait to see it all put together. Is Brady offering any input or just sitting back and enjoying the ride? We are re-doing Riley's room this year for her
10th bday and she has a file folder of ideas already. This is going to be a challenge I think!!:)
have a happy day kerri
