A Day At The Beach

We had such a great weekend at the beach.  Actually, I should say that we had a great day at the beach...because it ended up being a much shorter weekend than we had originally planned.  We were going to take Brady out of school on Friday, but because he has missed so much school this year, we used our better judgement and decided against it.  I also got a call to sub on Friday...so it all worked out and we left right after school.  We are about 3 and 1/2 hours from Ocean City, Maryland.  We had planned to stay later on Sunday to make up for lost time...but then Brady's team tennis schedule changed and we had to leave early Sunday morning to get back for his match.  So, that left us just Saturday...and we made the most of it.  It wasn't as sunny or as warm as I had hoped...but it didn't matter.  The beach is truly my favorite place to go.  And even though I have been tired the last two days, I feel rejuvenated as a mom and a wife.  Can't wait to move there go back!

Here's some of what we packed into a short amount of time:

We had breakfast at this 50's diner at the resort.
They put a basket of warm donuts on the table.
The little t.v. played classic cartoons like Popeye, Jughead, Tom and Jerry and Mighty Mouse.
You could also choose from Little Rascals, Gidget and The Munsters.

We played mini golf at the resort and at a place nearby.
I love that Brady is old enough now and more patient to wait for his turn and play the game right.  Can you tell I'm a little competitive?  Let's just say, I brought my A game!

We briefly stopped at two different arcades...waiting for it to warm
up so that we could get to the beach already!

Finally, made it to the beach...but not without our sweatshirts!

We were trying to get Brady to jump up in the air so I could get a fun picture... the boy cannot jump!

We drove around Assateague Island.  There are between 100-150 wild ponies on the island.
Assateague is about 10 minutes away from where we were staying in Ocean City.

Looking for wild ponies!

On Friday night we made it to the resort just in time to swim for about an hour.
The three of us played water volleyball (with the beach ball) against some other people.
(We weren't keeping score...but we clearly won.)
Saturday evening Brady swam for over two hours.

Man, I love this kid!  And, thank goodness he doesn't mind having his picture taken!

We made it home on Sunday with just an hour to spare before Brady's match.
No wonder I'm tired!  We have a busy week as usual...no time to rest!
How come everything always gets so crazy at the end of the school year?!
I guess it just makes the countdown til summer all the more fun!

Have a great week!

Wow, you look tiny in the pic..are you still trying to lose weight or are you all done?

I got a kick out of the photos of Dad helping Brady "jump". haha

yeah, enjoy taking his pic as he cooperates, my older boys hate having their pics taken. (If it requires looking normal.)

Looks like a cool resort.

Sounds like a fun-filled weekend. A day at the beach is sounding good right about now, (with our 45 degree weather). Cute pictures of Brady being tossed in the air.

I love the Atlantic Ocean. I've never been to the beach North of Virginia though. We might have to give it a try sometime!

I wish I lived close to the ocean...it wouldn't matter if it was chilly, just seeing the beach and a little sun would be great! Glad you had fun and these last weeks of school will fly by!

I love the one of Brady with the shark. Isn't it weird to wear a jacket at the beach?! I've done that before in MA, and it seemed strange, but I'll take the beach any way I can get it. Great pictures!

I love all your new header pictures - It looks like you had that beautiful beach all to yourself.

I'm still laughing that Brady cannot jump - funny!! But he is still the cutest guy and I love that he is willing to take pictures.

WOW! You guys did pack a ton in for such a short stay.

Cracking up at your comment. You know what they say...white men can't jump. Guess that's why Brady plays tennis and not basketball. huh?

You know...you weren't THAT far from me. Next time you need to give me some advance notice. I think I feel a meet-up in our future. :)

That diner looks amazing. Our girls would have loved eating there...if we could have torn them away form the retro cartoons!!:) Guess it would have made mealtime quiet though right?
Love the jumping pictures! I am going to try for those at the beach this summer.:)
Thinking June in FL, we won't be needing our sweatshirts though.
Have a happy day....hope it is a relaxing one!!

I can't believe how much you did in such a short time! Looks like a lot of fun in spite of the cool temps - I think my favorite part is that 50's diner with the little tv ... so fun!! I lived in DC for a few years right out of college and we used to go up to Ocean City/ Assateague quite a bit, I loved it there - glad to see it's still wonderful!!

What a great time - looks like the weather was beautiful. Love the JUMP collage. I'm feeling the same end of year crunch, but summer time will be here soon.

What resort did you stay at? I recognize the shark!! We always get pictures of the girls in front of it! :-) It's neat to see how they've grown! Can't wait to go back. Assateague island is always a must do on our list. :-)

Blessings,
Jill
