Santa, Printables, Christmas Eve & Merry Christmas!

I can't believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve!
It doesn't really feel like it around here.
Last night Eric and Brady played tennis for 2 hrs. at the
outside courts in town.  Not something they can
usually do this time of year...without their ears falling off!

Oh, who am I kidding?!  They play at the courts even when
it is cold out.  As long as it's over 35 degrees...they're there playing
under the lights.

Last Sunday we had our Santa evening with friends.
You can read about that tradition HERE if you want.

Last year I was so emotional thinking it would probably be Brady's last year of "believing."  But boy was I wrong!  He just keeps right on believing and doesn't question anything!  I think we are in over our heads with this whole Santa thing we have created.  Eric said he thinks we should tell him sometime after Christmas.  I said NO WAY!  If he is still believing come middle school...then maybe we will fill him in. ;)

Here are a few things he has said:
Santa knows me so well...
How much older is Jesus than Santa?
Can you believe I'm the only one in my class that believes in Santa?
Santa gave me this watch because he knows my other one was cheap and it broke.
I wonder if Santa made my watch or the elves?
Santa asked me if I could get him tickets to the U.S Open...do you think he'll wear his suit when he goes...cause it's hot in August?

I found  THIS  website that's pretty cool.  You upload a picture of your livingroom onto their site, pick out a Santa and they place him in your picture....for free.  Then you can print it and show the kids you saw Santa.  I told Brady I was going to try and "sneak" a picture of Santa on Christmas Eve and he got mad at me and said NO...I could not do that.  Santa would be upset and it would ruin it for other kids...and it's about believing and the spirit of Christmas.  Oh my...like I said, we are in over our heads.  Poor Brady.

Here's a picture of the kids from Sunday...
not a great picture, but I get one every year.

Here's the same group of kids...just last year. :)

(okay...not last year...but it seems like it.)

Aren't these cute tags?!
You can print them HERE.

Christmas Eve has always been special for my husband and I.
When I was pregnant with Brady, Eric made me promise that Christmas Eve would still continue to be "our" evening.  It's not that we do anything spectacular...it's just something we both look forward to.  When Brady goes to bed, we finish wrapping anything that hasn't been done yet.  We usually have champagne and appetizers and talk about life, our future, and how Christmas always makes us wish we had another child.  (Christmas can do that to you.)  We also talk about how lucky we are that God blessed us with the child we have, the one all snuggled up and sound asleep in his bed because he cannot wait for  Christmas morning.   So, with the busy-ness of the season and sharing our time with others over the holiday, I just want my husband to know that Christmas Eve is one of the days I look forward to the most each and every year.

If you're still with me on this long post...I'm signing off now!
I probably won't be back on until after Christmas.

I wish all of you a very blessed Christmas!

~Kerri

I am no good at the questioning... Maddox wanted to know if Santa had kids and when I told him no he said that he thought it was weird that he liked toys so much!!

I love your part about Christmas Eve with your husband... it has been so crazy around here that I can not even remember if I have kissed my husband in the past 2 days. You just made me realize that I need to slow down and be grateful for this right in front of me.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't teary eyed reading it for some reason... I am such a sap!!

Merry Christmas Kerri!

Wonderful post Kerri!
I think it is great that Brady still believes. Really it is not uncommon for only and oldest children to believe longer than most. My oldest son believed well into middle school. Nothing wrong with that! The things Brady says are soooooo cute.

I love your intimate Christmas Eve date with your husband - what a special time to look forward to.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

We, too, have Christmas Eve at home....and I love it. It is such a magical night. We watch old christmas movies after dinner and fill up with popcorn. We read the night before Christmas and tuck in the cuties. Then the work begins! I hope it is a tradition we can keep forever!.....at least until they are married. I can't even think about that! Merry Christmas to you!

Kerri, I think it is great that Brady believes! I know I believe!!! I am 51, and I don't get teased for believing!
; )
I love your night with friends, and Santa, and I loved the pics you posted. Isn't that the truth, time flies! It seems like mine were babies yesterday! Where did the time go.
Love your Christmas Eve tradition too.
Have a wonderful Christmas Kerri! You are certainly among my many blessings!
XO Kris

Hi Kerri -- I know what you mean about not seeming like Christmas Eve tomorrow -- no snow here in Michigan where I am. My twins are 11 1/2 and I think they are afraid to tell me they "know" about Santa -- I'm milking it as long as I can! Christmas Eve with hubby sounds romantic...hope my house of 18 leaves in time for us to have some quiet time, too. Merry Christmas to all of you!!

I think Brady has the right idea. It's about the spirit of Christmas not the actual person and you can believe in that for as long as you want. I'm sure little K knows (mostly because of the kids at school) but she has stopped trying to figure it out. I call it our don't ask don't tell policy. I think she is afraid that the presents from Santa will stop once she says she knows the truth. I wish I were as organized as you. It's Christmas eve and I haven't wrapped a single gift. Merry Christmas to you all.

Sounds like you have a pretty spectacular hubby, Kerri! He plays at length with your son, teaches him tennis, and has a remarkably romantic Christmas Eve tradition with you. What a keeper!
The labels are too cute and the Santa in your living room are great ideas that I have learned to expect from you. Remarkable. You have a remarkable husband, a remarkable son and you are REMARKABLE! Have a wonderful Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!

I love the tradition that you and Eric have on Christmas Eve. I think it's so special to have some time for just the two of you during the holiday. We've been thinking about the whole "more children" thing a lot lately too.

Love this post. Enjoy today!

i agree with you 100% about christmas eve being too special to share - by the time we're home from our pm church service, the sun is setting and we shut the door and it's ALL about the 4 of us - no phone calls, no emails, no internet, just happy family time - and like you, it's one of my most treasured times of the whole year ...

Ahh, I say let them believe as long as they want. They eventually figure it out and then a little of that magic is gone for them...that is until they have kids of their own. Let him believe.
I love your couples tradition. We like spending that time together too.
