Valentine's Day 2013

Brady informed me a week before Valentine's Day that he was not going to pass out Valentine's to his class.  I'm not really sure if this is because it starts to get a little embarrassing by 4th grade to give girls cards that say "I think you're sweet" or "be mine"....or if he was just being lazy.  He just didn't feel like doing it.   He did however give out candy that he put in a bag to take to school.  Not cute little individual heart bags...but a big old freezer bag.  Times are changing around here for sure.

Because Brady wasn't all that into the ocassion, this was all I gave him on Valentine's morning...

and in true Brady fashion, he was thrilled with just this.

I think the days of making these, these, and these, are just about over.  Sometimes I find myself feeling sad about this...which is ridiculous...I know.  It's just that I was good at that.  I often worry that I will not be good at this next phase that is right around the corner.  Anyway, I woke up yesterday morning and was looking at pictures on the computer of previous Valentine's Days and feeling sorry for myself that no one in this house was excited about this year's LOVE day.
Boy was I wrong.

When I walked into the kitchen I found this waiting for me...

Eric got me flowers and made me a card...and he and Brady had picked up a gift for me the week before.  I started to cry...because in that moment, I realized I had forgotten who my true Valentine is and always will be.  My husband.

And, as it turns out...somebody else what pretty excited about suprising me on Valentine's Day too!

Times are changing around here for sure...but some things I know will always stay the same.

Thanks Eric and Brady for always making me feel loved...everyday.

I hope your Valentine's Day was filled with love and a little
suprise or two!

Aw Kerri, I felt like you did yesterday.
Boyd and I printed off FREE cards for Kevin, and I didn't even put anything together for Boyd. I guess life just got busy and I was trying to get Boyd's preschool Valentine's ready, and forgot everything else. Kevin surprised us though, and that was nice. I think we both are lucky to have such good guys in our lives. {although Kevin came home from work tired and not hungry, so that kind of bummed me out}. Anyway, I love your post and I get it. I love that Brady still took candy to school, and that he was so excited over what you gave him. You've both raised a sweet kid who is appreciative of the simple things in life, and I think that is wonderful!

And of course I thought I was going to cry when I walked around the corner with you and saw the flowers too.

They're pretty sweet to you... and if you'll jet your little caboose to Texas, I'll put your crafty skills to work for the next few years! ...we are just beginning this stuff!

I somehow missed your last post. Funny enough, I had a dream about you earlier in the week, indefinitely what was going on with you. I'm so grateful all is well.

And I'm happy to see your boys took care of you for V day.
Keep positive, my friend.

OH man, it's hard when they grow out of things. My oldest went through a stage where he just wanted to be with his daddy....or at least most the time. He is now back to both of us...which is perfect! No worries, it does actually get better.

what a perfect love day!
sometimes it's the unexpected little things that "get us" the most right??:)
glad you got so much love from your boys!:)
you were breaking my heart on the "things are a changin" part. i so know what you mean. riley never wants me to walk her to class and i miss that so much. it's hard to see them grow up and try to figure out this new way to love them...did that make sense??:)
anyway...have a happy day:)
