This and That

Brady played on a middle school team tennis league this spring that ended in early June.    Eric put together this group of middle school kids from our school district.  Each team is made up of 3 boys and 3 girls.  They play singles, mixed doubles and boys/girls doubles against other leagues in the area.  Brady played so well...he was undefeated in singles and only lost two doubles matches all season.  They came in 2nd place.  They had a chance to come in 1st place, but on the night of the final, it rained and they didn't get to play.  And because of vacations and such, the season ended without rescheduling the final.

I have always preferred dark black mulch.  I have never even considered anything else.  Except for when my husband called home from work to see if I wanted almost free mulch that one of the truckers offered him.  I decided it was worth a try....and guess what?!   I like it a lot!  I think it matches really well with our brick.  This makes me think I should be more open minded about other things too!

I made french dip sandwiches yesterday for Eric for Father's Day.  He loved them!  If you were the one who posted the recipe, or you know where it came from, please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.  This was so quick and easy!

2 cans Campbell's french onion soup
2 tbs. worchestershire sauce
yellow pepper rings
1lb. thin sliced roast beef
buns

Heat soup and sauce on stovetop until boiling.  Add roast beef.  Add mixture to buns.  We topped ours with cheese and yellow pepper rings.  Bake sandwiches in 400 degree oven for 3 minutes.  Serve with remaining dipping sauce.  That's it!

Have yourself a great week!

I use to make similar sandwiches with provolone cheese-- but we haven't had them in a long time, so thanks for the idea!

Way to go Brady!! I hate that they didn't finish... I know he would have won first place!

Your mulch looks great! I HATE to work in the yard... But we always get black mulch too, I guess bc we always have. Yours looks nice though too!

The mulch looks great. We have the exact same color and it looks great too...when the storms aren't blowing it all over the yard.
Kudos to Brady, maybe the kids can drum up their own finals.

Congrats to Brady. What a great experience for such a young man. those sammys look divine - and so des your mulch. I've never even considered Black mulch - humm. Funny how we can get into a rut. I suppose that's our way of not becoming overwhelmed with all of life's possibilities - but change can be good.

the french dips look so yummy!! sorry about brady's last game not being played - this happens in sailing all the time (being totally dependent on weather of course) and it can be so frustrating - that's a bad break :(

ps - it's been really fun to "see" you on instagram :)

Great tennis picture. Way to go, Brady!

I'm just like you, I would normally go with the black mulch, but your new stuff looks wonderful. It does match your house just right. I love it.

The sandwiches look good and I will for sure be making those.

ps. I think I had your hairstyle in the post below too! In fact, I know those bangs well. :))
