Last Day Of School!

We did simple gifts this year. Lemon glazed cookies for the bus driver and a hockey tumbler for Brady's teacher. It was Brady's idea to give the tumbler...it's what he gave to his teacher last year. He's such a creature of habit. He also wrote his teacher a nice letter all on his own. I wish I would have taken a picture so I could have remembered his words...it was a touching note.

My emotions were all over the place yesterday. I think my husband thinks there's something wrong with me!  I was so excited this morning that today was the last day of school. Isn't that the best feeling for a kid...and maybe a mom?! Well, Brady didn't seem any different this morning than he is any other morning before school. I'm sure he was excited in his own way...just not the way I wanted him to show it. Later, I cried all the way to the grocery store. The last day of school always gets me...even more than the first day of school. I think it's just the ending of one year and what that means...mixed in with the excitement of summer. It's been a great school year for Brady...maybe his best and a little part of me is sad to see it end. Brady did come home with good news though....he will have Mr. B again next year! No, he isn't being held back! Mr. B is moving up to 4th grade!

We suprised Brady after school with two new Roger Federer raquets.  (Thank-you Erin!)  We hid the video camera to get his reaction.  If I can figure out how to download it, I will post it.  He was so suprised and almost speechless!  He's been asking for once since Federer came out with a new one right after Christmas.  He was planning to do extra chores this summer and figured by July he would have enough money.  I feel the need to say that I've never been in favor of giving money or rewards for good grades.  We don't do that.  We do praise Brady for always doing his best and for giving 100% when it comes to school.  He worked hard all year and we're so proud of him. Although Brady gets great grades...we've always told him that grades aren't as important to us as the effort he puts forth into learning.  This little suprise was just something we wanted to do for him.   BTW, I spent all morning making chocolate chip cookies, and he has yet to have one!  He's been too busy breaking in that new raquet.  He was out hitting on the garage at 7:30 this morning!

Eric and Brady just left a bit ago to go camping for a few days.
I have a long list of things I hope to do while they're away...but first, I think I'll walk around Target! ;)

I am quite certain that Mr. B is just as happy to have a kid like Brady in his class next year too! How neat to give him the raquets! He is thrilled, you can see that in his picture!! I was always so emotional too, at all of our kids promotions, and awards ceremonies, and such. It's just a Mama thing. I hope you enjoy your few days of alone time. And that the boys enjoy their camping trip! My husband and son always took a trip together every year too. Nowadays, it is harder with work schedules, but they still do it when they can.
Happy day my friend!!!

I know what you mean about the last day of school emotions. I always feel so relieved it's summer and so sad that another year has passed. How great that his teacher is moving with him to 4th grade! Your treats are sweet...my son loves the Humphrey books. Now go enjoy your summer and those cookies!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are the coolest mom ever. You do such thoughtful and fun things with and for your son. If there was a "Coolest Mother of the Year Award, you would win it.
I made the cookies and they were fantabulous.

I think I've mentioned this before...I bet every teacher fights over who gets Brady..and who gets the best room mom ever next school year..Mr. B didn't just "move on to grade 4"...I'm betting dimes to donuts he wants another batch of homemade goodness next year! Seriously, congrats to Brady and parents for a great year and have a fun tennis filled summer. I always loved it when school was out when my boys were little...it meant not having to pack lunches for 3 months!

Haha, we are all going to be a bit suspicious if Mr. B gets promoted to FIFTH grade too!

Guess the boys will munch your yummy cookies on their trip.

I miss my days of a treat for the bus driver; my high schooler would die if she (or I) gave him something in front of her entire bus full of students. Pout.

I hope you accomplish a lot, but in any case, enjoy some you time!!
