A Little Tour Through....

We live next to a little touristy town called Intercourse.  After 19 years of living in this area...it doesn't seem so strange anymore that this small Amish town is called Intercourse.  It just is...and we don't think anything of it.   That is until someone comes to visit and thinks it's funny.  One time when my dad came to visit, he bought a shirt that says "I love Intercouse."  Except the "love" was a big red heart.  Gross, I know.

On the first day of school, Eric and I always go to Intercourse (hee hee..ok, maybe it's still kinda funny!) and have breakfast.  I thought I would show you some of this little town...since it's probably not on your list of must see places!  I could have taken about a thousand pictures...there's so many neat little shops.  Howwever, after about a hundred, my husband had had enough.

We had breakfast at the Kling House....so good!  They only serve breakfast and lunch.  The town pretty much shuts down at 5 o'clock.

Thousands of people visit Intercourse everyday...especially spring, summer and fall.  We were there early that morning...the crowd had yet to arrive.

Have you seen the Fix It and Forget It cookbooks?  The author of those books lives nearby.
This is her store.

So, there you have it....a little peek into Intercourse, PA.
Pretty exciting, huh?!

Now I am feeling like I can talk about anything on my blog! ;)

That town is sooooo sweet! I can't believe anyone would have thought Intercourse was a good name for a town! Makes you wonder what kind of sweet toys they're selling in that toy shop?!?!?

Okay, that is hilarious. Why would they change the name from Crossed Keys to Intercourse. Maybe they knew it would get people interested in going there. Too funny.
Looks like a fun place, though. Hubs would love to go there.

Great pictures Kerri! Even though I'm so close I don't know when the last time was that I was in Intercourse (hee hee - now I'm giggling). You should mention all the nearby towns with odd names - Blue Ball, Bird in Hand, and Paradise. (Or maybe that's getting a little too racey)

What a fun town and I love the tradition of going there each year on the first day of school!

You have to wonder why they never thought to change the name!

What a cute place! When so many small towns (like Ashland) are struggling to redo their downtowns and help preserve the small town flavor it's great to see how this one has survived..they changed the name to something catchy! Maybe I should suggest this to our Mayor...hmmmm....Thanks for the fun tour!

So funny, I have heard of it by the way. I am thinking I would hit that pretzel place first. Your breakfast looked so yummers. Glad you got a chance to spend some time with your hubby.

What in the heck? I would have renamed it ages ago. This is one of those times where you just say, "What were they thinking?"
Now, having said that, it looks absolutely amazing.
I have got to come visit you.

One of those things that as you say it in your head - it doesn't sound strange at all...but the minute you put a voice to it - the giggle comes out. Love these glimpses into your wonderful area - it's beautiful.

Loved your ending. It looks like a lovely place. Just think of the traffic you would have gotten had you titled this post differently? We live near a Sexsmith. I don't even think twice about it.

This is such a cute town despite its name ;)

Funny name. I can see why people would laugh...but it doesn't reflect the thoughts at all does it?

That truly is a hilarious name. I am afraid in our family the joke would never end.
However, the town itself (name withstanding) looks so pretty and quaint. It is the kind of place I love to visit.
That store with all the jars stacked up looked like a store I would really like.
I already have "Amish Country' on my wish list - looks like I need to put Intercourse on it too!
