A Year Of Headers!

This was my very first blog header.
I made it in Picasa.  I really had no idea what I was doing...
but I knew I needed something to get my blog started!

Sarah at Clover Lane has a great tutorial for making headers.

*************************

A few months after I started blogging, Jen posted
a tutorial on making headers on scrapblog.com.

It took me a while...but when I finally figured it out...
I was pretty excited to change my header!
The scrapblog website has tons of free patterns
and papers and stickers for creating headers.
I could spend hours on that site!

**********************

As soon as I was getting familiar with Scrapblog,
I started having trouble loading my headers into
my blog.  I still haven't figured out what I am doing
wrong...one of these days I will try it again.

Anyway, back to Picasa I went!

How do you create your headers?
I'm always up for learning new ways!

Have a great weekend!

I use Picasa. I learned from Clover Lane also. I LOVE it! But I'm often curious how other bloggers do it.

oh, kerri, I'm so glad you asked this ... I'll have to come back once you're loaded up with comments b/c I soooo need answers!! I haven't ever tried Picasa (or scrapblog for that matter!), which is why my blog looks like a boring cut/paste generic special form the markdown bin at blogger - ugh! My 2011 blogging goal is to master Picasa and start monthly headers the way you do ... love that!! Can't wait to read the replies ...
Have a great weekend!!

I have used Picasa in the past. But, I always have trouble getting everything lined up correctly. I finally gave up and looked for one online. I am currently looking at some new ones. I am ready for a change!

You have so many cute headers!!

I really like to use pictures in my headers too. Sometimes it is just one large pictures (because I change it up often) and lately I have been making collages in Picnik - very fun to do!

Your blog headers have always looked nice. I'll be coming back to read the comments on how others do theirs too!

Those are so cute. I remember that original one you had. This sounds so cliche, but Brady looks so little in that picture.
I would change mine, but every time I try to do something cute with my blog I end up really messing things up. I'm afraid mine will stay the same forever.

Hi Kerri. I am going to go check that site out soon as I leave here. And I missed your blogaversary post. I read your post re why you only had one child. I am so sorry for your loss with the miscarriage. Boy, we sure just never know what God has in store for us, do we? I always wanted lots of kids. At least 4. I am blessed with 3 kids. All grown now. I was horribly sick when pregnant. I had two right away, 2 yrs apart..exactly. Then I was so scared to go through it again. Having been so sick. Then at age 29, when our girls were 6 & 8, we got pregnant again. I was very big, very fast, and found out it was twins. I lost one of the twins, early on in the pregnancy. About 13 weeks. I was so sad. I never expected that!!! But we learn to live with what we are given. I am blessed. So blessed. As I am sure you feel that blessing in your son every day of your life. He is so adorable too. Just a little mini me of his Daddy far as I can tell.
Just wanted to send a hug your way.

I really need to do things like this and get better at the "techinal side" of blogging. :) It seems time is always short and just fitting in posts is all I can do.

Love your headers and posts!
J

PS--Happy Blogiversary! I missed reading about it while I was on vacation. :)

You always do such a great job updating your header seasonally. I though of that...but quickly abandoned the idea when I realized it was October and I still had my "summer" header up. In my defense - we were in Arizona and in October it's still 100 degrees. So now I just keep up a generic neutral header. I would be lost without Picasa - it's the only editing tool I can use - and it's free. It seems to be working great for you - keep it up.

I always love your headers!!! I need to update mine-- it's from the fall of last year! AHH! I make mine in PSE and then upload. You just have to make a little shorter then the width of your header. I may have to look at your link for picasa though!

Also, scrapblog is now merged with another company! I use to make our family scrapbooks with them and I had one going for the first year for my youngest. I procrastinated (they sent numerous emails warning about the merge) and I lost the entire book :(((( Now I have to re-do it! Anyways, I loved that site as well. I am making out family photo album with mycanvas.com this year! (I know this post wasn't about family books... I tend to wander off topic sometimes) :)

How fun you saved all your header banners. Wish I had done the same. I make mine with Photoshop but they are not nearly as clever as yours.

I have struggled with my header since day one. I could never get it to properly fit across the top so I finally gave up. My header is pathetic. I would love to try it again, but I fear three hours wasted and nothing produced. That seems to be the story of my diving into trying new computer photo techniques.

I remember all of these headers so well! :) You do a fantastic job!

I use Photoshop elements for all of my blog designing "doings"... it was hard to get used to at first, but now I love it to pieces and know it like the back of my hand :)

Congrats on one entire year of Blogging!

I usually make mine in Photoshop...there are a few basic variations I like. In fact, now that I think about it, I think I'm about due for a new one.
