Yesterday on our way home from camp, we stopped at the library.
I don't think we've been to the library since last summer.
I know that's terrible. But, Brady gets books from school, I pick up
books at consignment shops and we buy them. We need to get to the library more often.
Brady was excited to pick out his books...and I got a few books too.
After lunch, Brady and I layed on a blanket under a tree and read for over an hour.
We were in the shade and there was a slight breeze...it felt perfect.
It's so true that the simple things in life make us the happiest.
We both layed there reading our books quietly. It was one of those times that I didn't want to end.
A couple of times Brady put his hand on my back and rubbed back and forth...as if to say he was enjoying our time too.
As I was tucking him into bed last night he said, Mom, maybe we could
read out on the blanket again tomorrow?
My heart is filled with so much love for this boy.
Life really is about the simple things.

I read this quote at the library yesterday:
I thought my mom's whole purpose was to be my mom. That's how she made me feel.
~ Natasha Gregson Wagner
I love it!

That quote is wonderful. I love it. What a great day. You are so right, the simple things in life are truly the best things.
I don't want my baby to grow up, but I long for the day where he can read beside me, and I'm not chasing him or figuring out what the tantrum is about. I've felt like sending out an SOS this week...it's been trying for me and Boyd. You make me realize that calmer days are ahead for us. :)
What a wonderfully, simple, memorable day! Sweet pictures of Brady reading, and that quote is awesome-love it <3
Ah bliss, I am so jealous. Quiet time to read! I have begun reading when I brush my teeth and dry my hair, just to have a little time to do one of my favorite hobbies. We go to the library a lot but unfortunately I don't get to pick stuff for myself very often. Brady is so sweet, sounds like he sure loves his momma. :)
Kerri! You are so right! Life is about the little things!!!!
I totally agree with you that reading seems to be happening less and less. That is great Brady loves to read!
Have a PRETTY day!
Kristin
What a perfect afternoon! I LOVE that quote
Such sweetness! Cherish them!
beautiful quote Kerri!
What a fun memory and a break from tennis:)
I'm more of a book buyer...but I love a library. So why don't I go more often? Time I guess. It's funny because when all 4 of my boys were little we went to the library all the time and I'm sure I was busier than I am now. I think it's the Mom thing..doing what you know is best for the kiddos. I miss those busier days!
Love that quote. The library is one of the things I miss the most for me and the kids. We went once a week! They were hooked and would remind me when it was library day! It is such a great resource to have. He is a sweetie and I love that he asked to do it again!
Love that quote!
And you are right... the simple things make the greatest memories!
What a wonderful day - seems like we are always running - especially in summer. Love that you take the time to just chillax. Fantastic quote - that's a pretty tall order - hope I can make Little K feel that way too.
Kerri, when I read that Brady asked you if you could maybe read out on the blanket again tomorrow, it honestly brought tears to my eyes.
So sweet.
I love moments like that.
What a fun thing to do.
That is really what they want. Just time spent with us. It's so hard to remember. This was a perfect example!
And it's funny you posted about reading b/c I've been planning to post about it also. But...um...mine would be a very different type of post.
I can tell taht you are a wonderful mom!! To give encouragement about something important and make it fun is terrific! I did that too and now I have two English teaching children..ha! The pics of Brady on the blanket are pricless and treasures for your memory book. You are right...the simplist things make you happy!
You asked for the cake topper website and it is kidscakes.esty.com Have fun!!
Love LOVE Love this :) summer moments with little boys can be so magical :)
What an amazing quote! I think it needs to hang up in my house somewhere as a reminder of my goal! :)
How sweet that he enjoyed your reading time just as much as you!
Hi Kerri!
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! I LOVED this post! What a sweet boy you have. I so look forward to my kids being a little older so we can share moments like that together. CALM moments. :)
Your header is darling!

The Library has been part of our summer too - it is such a good thing!
I am curious what books you picked out for yourself.
