Wow, Thanks!

I was given this blog award yesterday by For Real This Time!

Thanks so much!  It's so fun to pass around blog love to others!
I still find it crazy that a handful of people actually read my blog.
I enjoy it, because I'm writing about my life, family, thoughts, etc.
But, I'm not really sure why other people would read it?!  I'm not
a writer...and so much of my blog consists of too many
photos of my son!  Well, whatever the reason is you're here....
starting this blog has been a great pleasure in my life and I love
all your comments and reading everyone else's blogs!  I have met
some really wonderful women out there in blog land!

The rules for this award are as follows:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs.
4. Let your nominees know about their award.

Seven things about me:

1. I've never tried egg salad, ever!
I often make if for my husband, but I've never tried it...looks so gross!

2.  I'm fluent in American Sign Language.

3.  I drink an embarrassing amount of Diet Mt. Dew everyday....and not enough water.
I'm very aware of this issue and working on it!

4.  I had the record for the most career 3 pointers (basketball) at my highschool.
The record only lasted two years after I graduated before someone broke it...but still...it was mine
     for a short time!

5.  I have no idea if I am right handed or left handed.  Everything is pretty equal with both.
I can think of two prefernces...I like brushing my teeth w/ my left and using scissors w/ my right!

6.  It is my goal to try one NEW recipe every week and have done so for the last 10 years.

7.  I've always thought Queen Latifah and I could be good friends.
     Don't ask me why...it's just a feeling...

I'd like to pass this award on to the following blogs:
Thought I would pick some NEW blogs!

Lake, Beach, Ice Cream, Perfect

On Sunday, we went to Mt. Gretna Lake & BeachI can't believe we've never been
there before.  It's only about an hour from us...but it felt like we were on vacation in
another state or something.  It was a beautiful day...and fun was had by all!
I can't wait to go back again!

Brady enjoyed catching little minnows.

We wanted  to get a picture of Brady sitting in that BIG chair...but it was always taken!

My two favorite guys! Love them!

Decided to keep this picture small....see I was there too!

We finished our day with a little ice cream!
The Jigger Shop has been around for 100 years.

This is the patio to the Jigger Shop...not the best picture.
The big trees come up through the deck...you can kind of see
how many people were eating there.  We Eric waited in
line about 25 minutes for our ice cream!

Eric's death by chocolate.
My strawberry shortcake (huge!)
Brady's chocolate hot fudge.

Gift shop next to the Jigger Shop.   Mt. Gretna is such a cute place!

What a FUN day!

Next up....front porches of Mt. Gretna...stay tuned!

Hasn't Everyone Made These At Least Once?

It finally rained here on Saturday.  I can't  remember when it rained here last ...it's been so long.  Our grass is not lookin' so good!   We didn't leave our house all day...which is a little unusual for us!  It was kind of nice to just hangout inside and relax...although I have to admit at times we started to get on each other's nerves!

We played Cootie, read books, (all of us on the sectional at the same time reading...that's unusual too for us!) did lots of snacking, watched t.v. and made these:

Brady has been wanting to learn to make these...so I bought a kit
and taught him how.  He was really excited about it at first...but after
the first pot holder, he said he was going to take a break...
which means he's done.  I guess it wasn't as much
fun as he thought it would be!  I couldn't remember how to
finish it off...but Eric was actually the one to figure it out (he probably
doesn't want us to tell anybody though!). There were only enough
loopy things in the package to make three pot holders...darn!
I was actually enjoying this craft...could have made them all day long!

My Little Tennis Guy

The tennis camp Brady has been attending is having a tennis
match this morning against another camp at a nearby school.
The two camps got together last Friday to play each other and Brady
was so excited to play in his first (kinda official,
but not really)  tennis match ever.  I think he thought it
was going to be BIG TIME...so we tried to prepare him ahead of time
by telling him that it might not be all that organized and that it was just for fun!
He played so well...with kids much older than him...and loved every minute of it!
He wants to be a professional tennis player, you know.  He has talked excessively
about this for the past two years.  I will have to do another post on this for sure!

Brady's first (doubles) tennis match!
Definately the BEST tennis player in all of the 12 and under group...
not to mention the CUTEST!!  (It's my blog and I can say what ever I want!)

Brady and (mostly I) I made cookies for his scrimmage today.
Next time I think I will just save myself the trouble and
buy sugar cookies at the store...cause mine are not very good!  I think
I take so long to decorate them that they are hard as a rock dry out.  Oh well...as long
as none of the kids break a tooth...I think they'll be fine!

Hope everyone has a FUN weekend!

Vanity Makeover

This is the vanity that my friend Toni and I found
at a garage sale for $10.00.  She wanted
it for her daughter's bedroom.  I told her
I would refinish it for her and have it done
by Grace's birthday!

I first sanded the vanity.  It had a pretty good shine on it that needed to come off!
I then used a primer on it.  I probably wouldn't have had to...but the piece was
old and you never know what kind of stain was used or if an oil based paint
was put on it.  When in doubt....prime!

I found these decals at the Flower and Craft Warehouse...
a craft store in our area.  The decals are new from Me and My Big Ideas.

Yesterday was Grace's birthday and I dropped her vanity off at her house.
Isn't she CUTE?!   She's so sweet....and like most
girls her age, she loves all things pink.  I was so anxious for her to see it.
And...I think she liked it!

I think the vanity looks awesome in her room against her pink wall!

My next project.....vanity's sister!
She was $10.00 too !
Another great find!

Just Checking In...Quickly!

I feel like I haven't been on my blog in so long!
What a busy weekend!
We had our annual family reunion at Knoebel's on Sunday.
I took my camera but left the memory card at home in the computer...I hate when I do that!
I made 3 dozen of these cupcakes...but after the two hour drive in the
heat to get to the reunion...they didn't look so good!  What was I thinking?!
Anyway, we had a great time at the reunion and Brady loves riding all the rides!

It's going to be 100 degrees today so we are headed to the pool!
Hope everyone has a COOL day!
