Our Snow Day

We were excited to have a SNOW DAY yesterday!

It was kind of strange that school was being cancelled yesterday morning because we didn't have any snow on the ground.  But, the weatherman was sure we were going to get a large amount of snow all day long and so the schools all across the county made the decision to close for the day.

Do you Facebook?  I usually don't post anything on there except an occasional picture.  I'm not really a fan...although I do try and check it at least once a day...so I don't miss anything! ;) Anyway, I read a lot of negative things on there about school being cancelled.  And so, I felt the need to say something.  I told Brady there would probably be some people not very happy with me!  This was my post:

I cannot believe how many facebook friends are complaining about the snow day today. I always think it's better to be safe than sorry. If the kids went to school and we ended up having an early dismissal and had to get the kids home safely...there would also be complaining. I guess you can't please everybody. Anyway, I'm enjoying the snow day in my pajamas hanging out with my son...if we end up getting some snow...that will be an added bonus. :)

We never did get any snow. :)

Brady and I played Monopoly Deal.  It's much quicker than real Monopoly.  Games take  about 15 or 20 minutes.  We played a few games while having lunch...I love playing games with him...we laugh a lot.

Brady did a fair share of lounging on the couch and he may have played a few too many games on his ipod...but I was getting too much done around the house...so I let it go.

I taught Brady how to make lasagna...one of his favorites.
He did all of the work.  I think if we made it together one more time he would be able to do it all on his own the next time.  I would love if he spent more time with me in the kitchen and learned to enjoy cooking.  It's not something he asks to do very often...so I will have to be the one to keep bugging him!

Eric has slept on the couch the last two nights because of his annoying cough.  I sure hope he starts to feel better....Brady and I are excited to celebrate his birthday on Saturday!

Have a great weekend friends!

Stuck Behind These Two Guys

Oh the joys of living in Lancaster County!
I really wish there was a sarcasm button on my keyboard....
I could use one of those!

Have a great weekend!

Brady's Bedroom

Today we had another snow day.
Brady and I decided to tackle his bedroom.
It was long overdue for a good cleaning.
Lots of dust behind his bed and on his bookshelves.
Even the baseboards were dusty.
The top of his desk could not be seen.

We marked three boxes.
Keep.  Garage sale.  Donate.  And one big garbage bag.
Brady asked if he could donate some of his nicer things to a children's hosptial.
I'm not sure where he got this idea...and I don't even know if it's possible.
He just likes to make things more difficult for me!

His room smells so good now...almost like I imagine a little girls room would smell!
We got rid of almost all the toys in his toy box.
It makes me sad that he is outgrowing toys.
He would much prefer to play games, read, or work at his desk
I guess he is growing up.
What's the use of keeping things he doesn't play with anymore?
It's hard for me to get rid of somethings...so I have to do it quickly.

I want to put baskets in the desk to hide the mess...but Brady says he doesn't want them.
Daddy made the big bookshelf/toybox and Brady's desk.
He also made Brady's bed...I will save that for another post.
It's soon time for the bed to go....I may not be able to let that one go.

Brady's been outside playing with a friend for a couple of hours now.
He doesn't always have someone to play with...so it does my heart good to look
out the window and see him having fun.
Isn't that what snow days should be all about?!
That, and maybe a little cleaning!

We Have Snow!

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.

This is Brady after being outside for 4 1/2 hrs!  We finally got some
snow Sunday evening.  We only got about 2 1/2 inches...but
there was also a lot of drifting.  On Monday, Brady decided to go
outside about 10am to shovel.  It was freezing out there.  It was so
windy...and I kept calling him to the front door to see if he wanted
to come in and get warmed up.  Nope!  He wanted to suprise
Daddy and finsh the driveway before he got home from work.  I finally
demanded that he come in for some lunch.  I threw his hat, gloves
and coat in the dryer to get warm.  As soon as he ate, he hurried
back outside.  He did nothing but shovel the entire time!  He came
to the door once with a Christmas package that the mailman
brought with his name on it.  I tried to get him to come in and open
it..but he said he would do it when he was finished shoveling.
Such a hard worker!  Daddy made a huge deal about it when he got
home...and Brady was so proud of himself!  He fished all evening
for compliments!  I wish this attitude of always trying to please his
parents would last forever!
And, would you believe, that his hands and shoulders were sore
the next day from all that shoveling?!  I thought that only happened
to us older people!

Have a safe and happy New Year's weekend!
